Positive: Even prior to arriving, the owners were very proactive and helpful to make sure we were aware of the location of our room and where our evening snack would be. (We were arriving after reception had closed for the day and it was dark.) This made us feel welcome immediately. We met the hosts the following day and they remained charming and extremely helpful throughout our stay. The auberge is perfect for those people wanting peace and quiet with stunning views of the surrounding landscape and river. The garden is full of wildlife with plenty of outdoor seating and tables for early evening drinks. Our garden room was perfect, comfortable and well appointed. The buffet breakfast was excellent each day and could be eaten outside in fine weather. There was plenty of indoor comfortable seating areas with a log fire which was much appreciated with the late season weather. For those interested in French cultural and social history, the public rooms were full of antique and genuine family artifacts, making it possible to step back in time. The auberge is also perfectly located in the Vezere Valley for visiting Lascaux and other prehistoric cave sites. Also traditional, high quality local restaurants within a few minutes drive. Amanda and Emily were perfect front of house hosts and we enjoyed their company immensely together with that of their mother. They all have excellent English which was a bonus. We cannot recommend this auberge highly enough and will be returning ourselves one day. Thank you :)
