Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: We would highly recommend this hotel and restaurant. This hotel was located in an exceptionally beautiful and tranquil setting (we were there in the Summer). You are in the countryside and the views of the Swiss countryside and the Appenzeller Alps were outstanding. The room (#8) was exceptionally large and nice (windows on both east and south sides - a corner room). We ate at the restaurant and the food was excellent (but you had to ignore the health food slant of the menu because the actual dishes were excellent).

Negative: Without taking away from every other aspect to our stay (which was excellent!) the only minor complaint was the design of the bathroom. Small compact bathrooms are quite common in Europe, but this one was particularly difficult. We are older, and we needed to be gymnasts to sit down on the toilet. If remodeled, this bathroom deserves some better re-designing. Another very small quibble - the bed needed a bedside table (one side of the bed was the door to the bathroom and no bedside table would have worked, but the other side had room for a bedside table)

Summary: Superb countryside hotel, tranquil with an excellent restaurant - highly recommended
