The castle dominates the confluence of the Lot and the Coussanne. Dating from the fifteenth century, it was bought in 2005 by Valéry Giscard d'Estaing, former President of the Republic,. This castle is, with the abbey of Conques, one of the most known and most radiant monuments of Aveyron. Under the First Republic, it was sold in batches after Admiral d'Estaing was guillotined. In 1836, the nuns of St. Joseph bought the castle as a convent, a school and a retirement home. They sold it to the commune of Estaing in 2000, which, in view of the scale of the work, resold it in 2005 to the Giscard d'Estaing family.
